I want my son to play football, but my ex-wife says it’s dangerous. Who gets final say? She has primary physical custody, but we have joint legal custody.

That depends on what your custody agreement says. Who gets final say about extracurricular activities if you cannot agree? That’s the person who gets to decide this issue. Beyond this, however, consider if this is a hill you want to die on. Does your child want to play football? Is this small thing worth creating animus with your ex? It’s certainly not worth going to court over.
